We all have an inscape, a unique view ourselves or things around us. Hence my body of work shares the unique voice of the inescapable calling or journey of protecting my roots through art. Put differently, my body of work is concerned with the erosion of cultural values, African heritage and African spirituality. Hence my body works transmit the journey of protecting the inscape of my African identity. The employment of used materials is a metaphor to protecting cultural values from erosion. Moreover, the drippage of the mediums (wool, plastic, invisible thread and cotton thread) witnessed in the work alludes to loss and simultaneously to passing down of knowledge. While the circular formats symbolises of the protective eye of the Gods and protective armour used by Tsonga warriors. Therefore, a metaphor for encircling the cultural values from escaping. Overall my work stands for preservation, resilience and storytelling.
