Two fictions

Artist statement:

The first idea that came to mind regarding the art of non-existence was the AI pictures of beautiful plants that circulate online, causing great disappointment when people discover they aren't real. The pink plant in the background is my interpretation of a major genre of these images, the "impossible cascade of flowers". Unfortunately apart from being confusing, these works lack the connection to a human imagination, so I have balanced it out with a plant imagined from scratch with a proper backstory. This imaginary plant bears its flowers inside a capsule, with only a blue-green stigma visible of each one. Once the flowers are pollinated by insects, the capsule expands and four red sepals grow to form a secondary "flower", this time attracting birds to eat and disperse the seeds.
