There's a Flower For You

Artist Statement

Greyling's work exemplifies a thoughtful interplay between materials and processes, reflecting his exceptional craftsmanship and artistic skill. His tactile creations, often incorporating rocks, cement, steel, and found objects, invite viewers to engage deeply with the physicality of his art.

At the center of my practice lies an exploration of memory, materiality, spirituality, and the body, probing their intricate relationships with form and space. Frequently drawing inspiration from elements of my childhood and the environments that surround me, I create pieces that resonate with both personal and collective narratives. Through my dynamic and layered works, I invite contemplation on the nature of experience and the interconnectedness of our lived realities.

By carefully selecting materials and focusing on spatiality, I construct complex emotional landscapes that facilitate a shared contemplation of absence and memory. I believe that personal experiences are essential to the exploration of meaning, underscoring the phenomenological nature of my work.

Ultimately, I aim to create an immersive experience that fosters a deeper understanding of how memory and materiality shape our identities and connections to one another.
