I have started dealing with nostalgia as inspiration since 2016. In this modern struggle between wisdom and foolishness, nostalgia forms a powerful connection between human beings and art. In everyday human relationships (and art) it is possible to share a part of ourselves. The artwork plays on the nostalgia of happy shared memories and special times.
While at first glance one might want to taste a delicious chocolate it is also possible that some viewers might feel a bit of guilt.
Love like a box of chocolates is a gift that we give to others freely, but love is a more complex aspect of human existence where we are not only able to build people but also to poison them.
At first glance presented very pleasing and colourful I have paired the individual sweets with sayings as a reminder, that just like sugar - love can be deadly.
The work reflects on the relationships with those we love most. I strongly believe the relationship we have with the world is determined by the company we keep. The work serves as documentation of the sweet and fleeting moments we share. I also wanted the viewer to ponder on the importance of what we choose next in love and life.
Both sweet and dangerous moments remind us of our life’s dance. This journey of celebrating love and the use of imagery related to chocolates has handed me a magical key, a sense of value of the people who give us their love to share.
