Remembrance

“Remembrance” is a sculpture I created in a time that I was dealing with the pain of loss and the process of healing. Her dress was made in a time-consuming process of weaving and sculpting bandages that would customarily be used to swathe a wound. The Dressing becomes the dress she wears. It is woven into her psyche and fundamentally becomes part of her being. She is a reminder of how beauty can often be born from loss and pain.

The Threads that Bind us:

While working within the parameters of this theme, my thoughts kept returning to the idea of gender and how it simultaneously defines -and obscures, our inner selves. The thread that connects one generation to the next can be both a burden and a gift.
