Pitori
Pitori is a celebration of Pretoria, the beating heart of South Africa and a city that embodies unity through diversity. The title comes from Spitori, a language born in Pretoria that blends all eleven of South Africa’s official languages, symbolising how open, adaptable, and welcoming its people are.
The artwork captures the city’s landscape from the towering statue of Nelson Mandela at the Union Buildings to its lively urban streets, jacaranda-lined avenues, and distant mountains. Details like the Soshanguve number plate, railway lines, and the green hand of Mamelodi Sundowns pay tribute to Pretoria’s culture, pride, and rhythm.
Through Pitori, I celebrate the spirit of the capital, a place where heritage and modern life coexist in harmony, and where every voice, language, and colour finds its home.
