Parable of the Sower
The theme behind this work is a continuation of old stories; using
autoethongraphic layers situated within the discourse of the Anthropocene. The
title of my diptych, Parable of the Sower, incorporates both content and
methodology; deconstructing and collaging my old memorial print, May Peace
Prevail and pasting it over layers of old colonial maps which are crisscrossed with
seams of gold; that has fractured the land and the people of Zimbabwe. The
Parable of the Sower has parallel issues affecting both Zimbabwe and South
Africa.
My responsibility lies in my choice to be an artist and storyteller who looks to the
past and to the future to recreate my history.
Mixed media: collaged May Peace Prevail lithograph, old maps ,ink and acrylic
and gold paint on 2 canvases
