MY SOUL IS LEAPING WITH JOY

STATEMENT.

My art is a re-awakening of something which has been dormant in me for many years, the life of the people of Southern Chile. The struggle of the native people to save their forests and all those distinctive structures made of wood, especially the churches, are the main themes of my art; depicting the countryside of Chile as it truly is, a paradise. My spiritual self, expresses itself in the greatness of nature and I strive to convey the message of the sacredness of each day through colours, textures and symbols that spark a curiosity in people who appreciate the beauty of art. I broadened by audience and scope of work when I arrived in South Africa in 1996. It meant a new opportunity to learn about ways of being and living which were very different from the places where I grew up. From the first day in Johannesburg, I felt that the universe brought me here for something bigger. In my day-to-day, I experienced the extravagance and exuberance of this new context. My soul has been expanded in ways that I can't  express only in words, that's why I use art to convey how I feel and what I experience through colours, textures and newfound forms. The vast and rich landscapes of my new home and the people I connect with and observe inspire me in the moment. My wish is to create from where I am today, trying to incorporate and combine the richness of the many places I have lived in, in search of meaning and belonging.
