Go Kgangwa

Artist Statement

In this work, I explore the intricate and often tense relationship between human intervention and the natural world. Using recycled PVC plastic, I created sculpture a nonexistent flower, its delicate petals and stems a stark contrast to the suffocating grip of human hands that encase it.

This work is a commentary on the far-reaching consequences of biochemical manipulation on our ecosystem. The flower, a symbol of growth and renewal, is instead depicted as being silent and suffocated by the very hands that should be nurturing it.

This work is a call to awareness, urging viewers to consider the long-term implications of our actions, and to strive for a more harmonious relationship between human innovation and the natural world.
