Circumstantial Overload

Artist Statement

We can agree that the parallel between the world and flowers is change, which has positive and negative effects. Even so, with the world's constant change,

It can be challenging blossoming to uncertainty; being open to change and being in support of it. According to National Institutes of health (2024), circumstances such as cultural shift can dramatically alter daily lives, and reshape our perception as well as our interaction with the changing world. These cultural shifts can have negative impacts of cultural shock which can seed low self esteem, anxiety, and experience of alienation.

My work draws inspiration from the film 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower', in which Charlie, a detached, yet self-observant 'wallflower,' enters high school, but is nervous about his new life while trying to learn how to navigate the world around him.

My theme figuratively implements the hypothesis of alienation or estrangement, whilst the overall concept aims to communicate anxiety which is an aspect that can stem from cultural shift.
