Being creative means being free to play, to play means experimenting - what happens if I do this? What happens if I don’t follow the rules? Being in creative play means theirs no such thing as a mistake - whatever happens its ok!
As a traumatised child in a dysfunctional family system you’re childhood and creativity is sacrificed. A narcissistic parent restricts a child’s growing sense of self and sabotages the child’s early childhood development and creative exploration by refusing to impart and allow the acquiring of essential knowledge and skills to survive in the world. The child learns through play. When a parent over criticizes and restricts the child’s playful nature, learning, creativity and healthy mental development suffers.
This exhibition presents a reclaiming of the inner child’s creativity, playful nature and skills that was sacrificed in childhood in order to please a selfish, destructive parent.
