Xolelwa Malinga

Born and raised in the Kingdom of Eswatini, Xolelwa Malinga is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist. Inspired by the female form, Malinga’s work delves into the nuanced communication conveyed solely through body positioning, using the female anatomy as a canvas for her feelings, thoughts, and themes. Her work delves into themes of beauty, freedom, and confidence, aiming to celebrate the vibrant essence of women and inspire self-acceptance. Her ultimate objective is to challenge societal norms and encourage viewers to appreciate and honor the black female figure, moving away from objectification and the prevalent sexualization perpetuated by the effects of colonialism and the modern media. In 2024, Malinga received the Art Connects Women Award as Eswatini’s ambassador, acknowledging her significant contributions to the global art scene. She was also represented by Afrikin Art Gallery, having been introduced to them by The Space in Botswana, where the curator recognized her potential. Her work was subsequently showcased during Miami Art Week and Art Basel under the representation of Afrikin Art Gallery
