Thato Kokwana

Thato Kokwana was born and bred in Morokweng, a small village in Vryburg town, North West. Mr Kokwana holds a Btech in Fine Arts from the Tshwane University of Technology, and as alumni specialising in glass blowing, he has been involved in notable local and international projects. He has graced the Paris 2024 Olympics with his vibrant sneaker customizing and his work is currently on show at the Belfius Bank, South African Exhibition in Belgium. In 2022, he joined Smelt Glass as an intern and with the company he has done hand-blown glass chandeliers for artist Mike Hyam, commissioned by TASHAS Group. In addition, 2023 together we did installations in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi).

Thato Kokwana has exhibited his hand-blown glass artworks locally. The year 2023 SculptX hosted the Largest Sculpture Exhibition in Southern Africa which was held at Melrose Gallery. Lastly participated at The United Nations, 2022 International year of glass group exhibition at The Viewing Room Art Gallery, to mention a few. Emerging designer of the, 2018, World Choir Games (WCG) trophy, pointed out to be the first in Southern Africa.
