Siboniso
Mtshali is a Pretoria-based visual artist, born and raised in Pietermaritzburg,
Siboniso Mtshali discovered his passion for art in a place where it wasn’t
taught in schools. Determined to peruse his dreams, he joined art classes at
Tatham Art Gallery under the mentorship of educator and curator Mrs. Pinky
Nkabinde. During high school, he dedicated his Friday afternoons to honing his
craft. His experience at the art gallery equipped him with invaluable skills
and industry insights.
In
2022, Siboniso showcased his work at the Hilton Arts Festival, where encounters
with prominent artists inspired him to strive even harder. Now 24, he has been
featured in Vuleka Art Competition 2024 finalists, he works with mixed media,
charcoal, soft pastels and oil paint. Currently, he is in his second year of
Fine and Applied Arts at Tshwane University of Technology, specialising in
painting and sculpture.
