Olwethu De Vos (b. 1992) is a multidisciplinary visual artist and curator based in Johannesburg. Recently, she has exhibited in Rebirth (2022) with Lizamore & Associates Gallery, Stories of Our Soil (2021) with The Melrose Gallery, and All Womxn Matter (2020) with Julie Miller and Art @ Africa. Her work has also been featured at prestigious fairs, including the Miami Prizm Art Fair (2021), Investec Cape Town Art Fair (2021), and the Turbine Art Fair (2019). De Vos held her first physical solo exhibition at Mmarthouse Gallery in 2021.
A graduate of Tshwane University of Technology with a specialization in glassblowing, sculpture, and figure drawing, De Vos has received accolades such as the Teresa Lizamore Curatorial Mentorship (2017) and the Schütz Fine Art Museum Residency in Austria (2023). She was also a top 15 finalist in the Thami Mnyele National Fine Arts Awards.
In addition to her art practice, De Vos has curated over 15 exhibitions at institutions like the Pretoria Art Museum, August House, and the Goethe-Institut. She is also the co-founder of the Blessing Ngobeni Art Prize, supporting emerging artists, and is actively involved in arts workshops, programming, and research seminars.
