Nelson Thaba is a 23 year old artist from Limpopo, currently studying Fine Art at the Tshwane University of Technology. He has three main mediums: sculpture, drawing and painting, but his favoured medium is sculpture.
Nelson was inspired by his high school art teacher to pursue art as a career. He describes his work as “social commentary”, exploring societal issues such as the way people interact with and treat each other.
Nelson enjoys taking part in competitions, and one of his sculptures was selected for the final round of the PPC Young Concrete Sculpture Competition in 2009. One of his sculptures is currently on exhibit at the University of Johannesburg as part of Eskom's Efficient Lighting Competition, for which he designed a lamp.
