Lyle Pettitt, a celebrated South African artist residing in Cape Town, discovered her passion for
art during her formative years at school, where she enthusiastically embraced art as a subject.
Her journey as an artist took a significant turn in 1995 when she relocated to Orlando, Florida.
There, she immersed herself in various courses at The Crealde School of Arts, focusing on
portraiture and exploring mixed media techniques.
During her time in Orlando, Lyle also worked diligently at an art studio, honing her skills and
deepening her connection to the creative community. However, her return to Cape Town marked
a pivotal moment as she transitioned into a full-time commission artist. Despite selling over 100
pieces, Lyle felt her artistic identity was still evolving until the year 2000, when she delved into
screen printing with a keen focus on Pop art.
Inspired by luminaries such as Andy Warhol, Lyle found her niche and began showcasing her
vibrant creations at The Lisa King Gallery. However, personal tragedy struck, causing her to step
away from painting for a profound four-year hiatus.
Yet, true creativity knows no bounds, and Lyle has since rediscovered her muse with a renewed
vigor. Her current artistic expression merges a modern interpretation of Pop art with a
fascination for the female form and intricate facial expressions. Embracing the transformative
impact of digital media, Lyle seamlessly integrates painting, drawing, and digital technologies
into her mixed media artworks.
Today, Lyle Pettitt continues to captivate audiences with her distinctive style, embodying a
harmonious blend of tradition and innovation in contemporary art.
