Short Background
Edinah Chagwedera was born in the year 2000 in Karoi, a small town in Zimbabwe. In 2013, she
migrated to South Africa with her family in pursuit of greater opportunities and a better quality of life.
She completed her diploma in Fine Arts at the Ruth Prowse School of Art in Cape Town in 2023. Edinah’s
artistic journey began in childhood, and she further developed her painting skills while working parttime at an art studio in the Waterfront. She expanded and perfected her skills during her tertiary
education.
Edinah’s work focuses on the mental health struggles of black youth. Through her paintings and thoughtprovoking sculptures, she aims to highlight their challenges and encourage conversations about mental
health.
